Teach in France as a live-in tutor!
Being a live-in tutor in France and teaching English in Paris is a special opportunity that gives the tutor the free time to explore Paris, learn French and discover life in Europe while having the safety and security of a home and family to share daily life in Paris.
What is the “Live-in Tutor” Program?
The “live-in tutor” program is considered a cultural exchange and operates as a direct exchange of services; English tutors in Paris are asked to teach English to their host family for 15 hours/week and in return, the tutor receives full room & board and the safety and comfort of a nice home in Paris. (The value of accommodation in Paris, including 3 meals per day, is approximately 1500 Euros / month!) The host family will be curious to learn about the tutor’s language, customs and culture and similarly the tutor will share in the every day life of a French family. The key to a successful stay will be a mutual respect and consideration created between the tutor and the family.
What is Expected from a Live-in Tutor?
The tutor will be expected to spend not more than 15 hours / week with various family members, individually or as a group, to have conversation in English, practice reading, play games with children, perhaps review homework or newspaper articles, correct pronunciation and/or perform similar light teaching tasks. A teaching certificate is not required for this program but is certainly useful. The tutor will gain valuable experience in this role and will receive a written reference from the family upon the completion of the agreement.

Live-in Tutor Program – Placement Process
Once your application has been received and approved, we will begin searching for a family for you. To improve your application and make it more attractive to potential host families, it might be worth while to contact someone who is working at french translation services company to give you an upper hand in the language. When a family is interested in your profile, we will forward the family information to you. If you are interested in that family a skype interview will be arranged. If this is successful we will proceed with the placement agreement; if you do not accept this family, for whatever reason, we will go on to the next family. This process can take some time depending on the type of family you are looking for and how flexible both you and the family can be.
Tutoring placements can take some time; it is recommended that you apply 6 months in advance so as to find a suitable placement.
